Obituary for Ansel R. "Aws" Johnson

Ansel R. "Aws"  Johnson
Ansel R. 'Aws' Johnson, 82, of Curwensville died peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

He was born on September 9, 1931 in Bells Landing, a son of the late LeRoy B. and Nora (Bell) Johnson.

Mr. Johnson retired in 1992 as an Ironworker after 25 years of service. He was previously employed by North American Refractories.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Johnson served during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred R. (Bloom) Johnson whom he wed July 25, 1953 in Curwensville; three children, Lisa Duttry and husband Marty of Olanta, Jeffrey H. Johnson of Curwensville and Mark L. Johnson and wife Denise of Chesapeake, VA; six grandchildren, Lindsay and Derrik Holmes, April and Dustin Johnson and Casey and Megan Johnson; four step grandchildren, Melanie Page, Jennifer Littlefield, Joshua and Lucas Duttry; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Houser of Clearfield and Catherine Hurd and husband Charles of Mahaffey; two brothers, Arthur Johnson and wife Mary Jane of NJ and Thomas Johnson and wife JoAnn of Grampian; and a sister-in-law Jane Johnson of Grampian.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Daniel R. Johnson; a grandson, Cody Johnson; two brothers Lawrence 'Tim' and Frank Johnson; and a sister-in-law Sara Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Saturday at 10 AM with Pastor Wade Berkey officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 PM and on Saturday from 9-10 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 501 Howard Avenue, Suite D, Altoona, PA 16601.
