Obituary for Alta N. Zipf (Nelson)
Alta N. Zipf, 97, of Clearfield died on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
She was born on March 21, 1918 in Lawrence Township, a daughter of the late William L. and Mertie J. (McCracken) Nelson.
Mrs. Zipf was a homemaker and a member of the former Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 379, Clearfield. She was also member of West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield
She is survived her son, Richard A. Zipf and wife Ginger of NC; a daughter-in-law, Jane G. Zipf of Coalport; five grandchildren, Mark Jacobs and wife Gena, Paul Zipf and wife Bobbi, Linda Shaffer and husband Dennis, Adam Zipf and Ben Zipf; nine great grandchildren and a great great grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John F. 'Jack' Zipf on October 2, 1985 and whom she wed September 17, 1937. She was also preceded in death by her son, Bill Zipf; a grandson, John C. Zipf; two sisters, Juanita Nelson and Sara Swanson; and a brother, Clyde Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 1 PM with Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11-1 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the West Side United Methodist Church, 317 Nichols Street, Clearfield.
