Obituary for Marilyn M. Flegal (Miller)

Marilyn M.  Flegal (Miller)
On December 24, 2015, Marilyn Miller Flegal began her celebration of Christmas in the arms of Jesus. She died at home surrounded by her family.

Born Marilyn Leone Miller on August 7, 1932, she was the youngest child of Raymond J. and Violet G. (Jordan) Miller. Marilyn was the last of her generation and the matriarch of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Howard Marion, Etta I. Miller, Harold Merritt, Lurline Kautz and Little Blanche, who died in infancy.

After attending Emporium Schools, Marilyn graduated from Harborcreek High School. Although Marilyn did not graduate from Emporium, she maintained lifelong friendships with classmates from Emporium's class of 1950.

On August 1, 1958, Marilyn married Mitchell A. Flegal in Emporium. Mitch preceded her in death, having passed from this life to eternity on October 31, 1992.

From this union, four daughters were born, Michele (David) Perkins, Squire, WV; Maureen (Patrick) Reardon; Severe Park, MD, Margie (Donald) Kelley; Severn, MD and Mary (Gary) Buss of Harrisburg. Marilyn is also survived by five grandchildren, Tim, Joe and Michael Reardon and Daniel and Leslie Kelley. As well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins of whom she loved deeply.

Marilyn began her working career at Sylvania, where she was a member of NHD. She then was employed at Curtiss Wright in Quehanna. Following this, Marilyn and Mitch moved to Maryland where Mitch continued teaching and coaching. Marilyn continued her career as a bookkeeper until she and Mitch moved back to Mitch's family homestead near Clearfield.

Marilyn was an active member at Spring Valley United Methodist Church. She was also a proud card carrying member of the NRA.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 12 PM with Pastor Mike Knepp officiating.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 11 AM - Noon.

Burial and committal services will be on Wednesday at 2 PM at the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spring Valley United Methodist Church, c/o Pastor Mike Knepp, 326 Elm Ave, Clearfield, PA 16830 or to the charity of one's choice.
