Mary 'Geraldine' English, 79, of Woodland died on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

She was born on September 13, 1936 in Bradford Township, a daughter of the late Charles O. and Marian (McDowell) English.

Ms. English was a 1954 graduate of the Clearfield High School. She then attended Philipsburg Hospital Nursing School and was employed for 30 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Centre Community Hospital of Bellefonte and State College. She retired in 1993 and then worked for HomeCare for several years. Two of her favorite hobbies were crocheting and traveling and she and her sisters drove many times to Wyoming to visit another sister and her family.
She was a member of the Dale United Methodist Church and active in her church until her recent illness.

She is survived by her sister Catherine English of Woodland; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie and Frances; and two brothers, Homer and Robert.

Funeral services will be held at the Dale United Methodist Church, Bigler on Thursday at 2 PM with Pastor Kathy Leigey officiating. Interment will follow in the Dale Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 12-2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Dale United Methodist Church, PO Box 416, Bigler, PA 16825.
