Obituary for John P. Tabone

John P.  Tabone
John P. Tabone, 89

of Clearfield and formerly of DuBois, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Penn Highlands, Clearfield.

Born September 22, 1927 in Kramer, he was the son of the late Leonard and Carmella (Gruttadaurea) Tabone.

John was a veteran of the US Army and a self-employed barber in DuBois for over 60 years.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Clearfield.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Jane (Sturniolo) Tabone whom he married July 4, 1953. He is also survived by a son, Paul and his wife Sally J. Durica-Tabone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sadie Nardello and Lucy Shubeck; and five brothers, Joseph, Charles, Samuel, Philip and infant Michael.

John was a past Scout Master of Troop #9 of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a life member of the Sons of Italy Due Palme Lodge #189 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540, Clearfield. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #813 and American Legion Post #0945. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sandy Township Hose Club, Pennsylvania Wildlife Habitat Unlimited and the NRA.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday at 1:00 PM with Fr. James Power as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Post Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund 212 South Front Street Clearfield or to the Nathaniel D. Yingling, MD Cancer Center Penn Highlands Clearfield, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield.
