Obituary for Joseph F. Marrara

Joseph F. Marrara, 86,of Clearfield died on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.

He was born on October 18, 1930 in Staten Island, NY, a son of the late Joseph and Thelma (Moore) Marrara.

Mr. Marrara owned and operated Clearfield Distributing Company from 1945 until his retirement. He enjoyed watching football and baseball; however, his biggest joy was spending time with his family. Mr. Marrara also cherished traveling, camping and going on cruises. In fact, he and his family have visited most of the states in the United States. He will be remembered for his quick wit and gift of conversation.

Mr. Marrara was a member of the Clearfield American Legion, Clearfield VFW, the former 4th Ward Fire Company and most of the social organizations in the area. He was a proud life member of the Clearfield Sons and Daughters of Italy #189.

He attended Centre Grove United Methodist Church, Clearfield and was a veteran of the US Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Neff) Marrara; five children, daughter, Cindy Bogacki of Clearfield, Patricia Aughenbaugh of Curwensville, Sharron McBride and husband Dave of Clearfield and William Marrara of Clearfield, and Sean Rockmore of Clearfield; eleven grandchildren, Travis, Mindy, Amanda and her husband Sean, Jennifer and her husband Korey, Michael, Alycia, Casey, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Pru, and Nolyn; and twelve great grandchildren..

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday at 11 AM with Pastor Scott Schultz officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Military honors will be accorded at cemetery by the members of the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Posts Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday 1-4 PM and Monday from 10-11 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 108R North Second St., Suite 1B, Clearfield or to the charity of choice.
