Jean H. Gallaher, 88, of Clearfield passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

She was born on June 6, 1929 in Clearfield, daughter of the late Charles Gordon and Thelma ‘Denny’ (Mitcheltree) Herrington.

Jeanne was a vibrant woman who lived a very active life. She was an avid golfer, playing at all of the local courses as well as around the world with her husband, David. They had held a membership at the famed Pinehurst Country Club in North Carolina for over twenty years. She had been Ladies Champion at both Clearfield Curwensville Country Club and Treasure Lake. She had two holes-in-one in her golfing career. Jeanne also loved many other activities, including Bridge, bowling, gardening, and needlework.

Jeanne was also actively engaged in the Clearfield community. She enjoyed volunteering with the Candy-Stripe program at the Clearfield Hospital and was active in the Hospital Auxiliary, the Charity Ball, and many other local organizations. She was also a lifelong member of The Presbyterian Church in Clearfield.

Jeanne was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School Class of 1947, where she participated in music and sports. She was Drum Major in the Marching Band, played bassoon in the Orchestra, and played basketball. After high school, she attended Indiana Normal School (now IUP).

Jeanne is survived by her husband, David G. Gallaher; three sons: William G. Bacharach and wife Linnette of Clearfield, Andrew G. Bacharach of Aurora, OH, and Matthew D. Bacharach M.D. and wife Pamela of Lancaster, PA; three step sons, David Gallaher Jr. and wife Rhonda of Grampian, PA, Dale Gallaher of Pelham, NH, and Douglas Gallaher and wife Teresa of Clearfield, PA; fifteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert J. Bacharach Jr. M.D. and by her brother, Charles 'Bill' Gordon Herrington Jr.

A memorial service will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home in Clearfield on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Robert Ludrowsky officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of donor's choice.
