Obituary for Stephen Demchak

Stephen Demchak
Stephen Demchak, long time resident of Clearfield, departed this life after extended poor health, on his 86th birthday, January 20, 2018, at Mountain Laurel Nursing Center.

Born in Philipsburg to George and Mary Lucak Demchak, he was the seventh of eleven Demchak children of which five remain; Joseph, Michael, and Carl in Philipsburg, Samuel, of Alliance, Ohio, and sister, Suzanne of Camp Hill, PA.

He was a 1949 graduate of Philipsburg High School, after which he joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he married Jane Turner of Woodland who passed away in 2010. They had two children; Linda Wills of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Mark Demchak formerly of Clearfield and who passed away in 2014. Steve also leaves behind his granddaughter, Aimee Wills, in Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

Steve attended Barber School in Harrisburg and became a popular barber and businessman in Clearfield. He cared about his clients and neighbors and would visit shut-ins to give them their haircuts at home.

He had a long time association with area Veteran’s organizations including the Clearfield Chapter of the American Legion and was an avid golfer and member of the Clearfield Curwensville Country Club for many years.

Mr. Demchak will be interred at the Indiantown Gap National Military Cemetery, Annville with a priest of the Greek Orthodox Church officiating a committal service.

Donations in his memory can be given to a Veterans organization of your choice.

Steve's family would like to express their thanks to the caring nurses and staff at Mountain Laurel.

Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield is in charge of arrangements.
