Obituary for Robert L. Wise

Robert L. Wise, 94 Years, of Curwensville died on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.

He was born on August 22, 1923 in Curwensville, a son of the late Frank and Vinnie (Spencer) Wise.

Mr. Wise served proudly and honorably in the US Army in Europe during World War II. After the war, he returned to Curwensville and began a career as a skilled machinist and Tool and Die Maker for various manufacturers in Western PA. He retired from this work in 1990. He and his late wife, Betty, were members of the Curwensville Alliance Church.

He is survived by two sons, Robert L. Wise Jr. and wife Sandra of Johnstown, and Todd Wise of Virginia Beach, VA; a grandson, Robert L. Wise III and his family of Pittsburgh; step sons, Craig Litz and wife Janice of Curwensville, Jerry Litz and wife Susan of Jeffersonville, IN, Robert 'Beau' Litz and wife Jeanne of Mahaffey, Edward Litz and wife Carol of Curwensville; step daughters, Paulette Lowe and husband Darold of Milroy and Janet McGarry and husband Timothy of DuBois; seventeen grandchildren and step grandchildren; a sister, Helen Bloom of Greenville Pike; a brother, William Wise of Ansonville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Straw) Wise; two brothers, James Wise formerly of Grampian and Francis Wise formerly of Curwensville; an infant son, Terry, from a prior marriage to Kathryn E. Riddle.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Wednesday at 11 AM with Rev. Stephen D. Shields officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Post Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and Wednesday from 10-11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Curwensville Alliance Church, 725 Susquehanna Avenue, Curwensville, PA 16833.
