Obituary for Chester A. Waple

Chester A. Waple, 90, of Clearfield died on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.

He was born on February 27, 1928 in Bigler, a son of the late Patrick and Mary (Jury) Waple.

He served his country in the U. S. Army during two different assignments from 1946-1949 and 1950-1954, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant upon discharge. Mr. Waple was employed by the Pennsylvania Electric Company from 1954 until his retirement in 1986. His efforts outside of work were devoted to developing his 10 acre property into a house, farm and gardens that still remain in the family. Also in his retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively throughout the US, especially enjoying visiting his son and daughter-in-law in Oregon.

He is survived by two children, Jane Davis and husband Jim of Clearfield, and Curtis Waple and wife Vicki (Montague) of Selma, OR; two grandsons, Evan and Brett Davis; a sister, Nellie Shuster; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace (Conaway) Waple on June 28, 2017 and whom he wed April 14, 1950 in Union, NJ. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mina Mondock; and two brothers, Clifford and Wilbur Waple.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John Lutheran Church, PO Box 1545, Clearfield, PA 16830.
