Obituary for Kenneth R. Long

Kenneth R.  Long
Kenneth R. Long, 84, of Clearfield died on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

He was born on August 8, 1933 in Noble, IL, a son of the late Woodrow and Bertha (Beaver) Long.

Mr. Long owned and operated the former Fred Diehl Motors, Clearfield and Ken Long Motors, Philipsburg from 1974 until retiring in 2000.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield, the Clearfield American Legion Post #6, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540 and the Clearfield Lions Club. He also belonged to the Clearfield Curwensville Country Club, having served as President, the Carolina National Country Club, the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce, Wolfe Run Industrial Park Association and the Clearfield Area Jaycees, where he held the office of Regional VP and was named outstanding local President in 1966 for the state of PA.
A veteran of the US Air Force, Mr. Long served during Korea from 1953-1957, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy A. (Diehl) Long whom he wed July 18, 1959 in Clearfield; three daughters, Kathy Brown and husband David of Houtzdale, Mary Beth Long of VA, and Christina Powell and husband Jeffrey of Philipsburg; three grandchildren, Krystina Sipes, Justin Powell and Jordyn Powell; and two great grandchildren, Troy Daniel Sipes and Rylee Sue Sipes.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield on Saturday at 11 AM with Rev. William Ellis officiating.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and at the church on Saturday from 10-11 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, ATTN: Furnace Fund, 121 S. 2nd Street, Clearfield, or the Trinity United Methodist Church, ATTN: Shoe Bank, 112 S. 2nd Street, or Christ the King Manor, 1100 W. Long Ave., DuBois.
