Alexander P. "Pops" Pawlukovich, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Saturday October 10, 2009 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY.
Born in Westover, PA he was the son of the late Philip E. and Stella R. (Jarosiewicz) Pawlukovich.
Alex was a graduate of Clearfield High School in Clearfield, and served in the United States Army from December 7, 1942 until his honorable discharge on February 5, 1946. He began working at General Electric in Erie, before moving to Niagara Falls, NY in the early 1950's. He then began working at Union Carbide in Niagara Falls until his retirement in the mid 1970's. Mr. Pawlukovich was a Scout Master with the Cub Scouts of America, a longtime member of the American Legion, and Moose Lodge in Niagara Falls, NY. Alex also coached football for the Police Athletic League, was a Cayuga Little League Baseball Volunteer and an avid bowler.
Mr. Pawlukovich is survived by three children: Kenneth A. Pawlukovich and wife Joan M. of Niagara Falls, NY, Gary R. Pawlukovich and wife Gail T. of North Tonawanda, NY, and Lori A. Arutunjan and husband Serge of Niagara Falls, NY. He is also survived by six grandchildren Kari Lynn Roy and husband Scott, Kenneth A. Pawlukovich II and wife Jennifer, Phillip J. Pawlukovich and wife Heather, Jennifer E. Arutunjan, Breann M. Pawlukovich, and Kevin D. Pawlukovich; seven great-grandchildren Michelle, Caroline, Phillip John, Maddison, Isabella, Juliana and Sophia, a sister Helen Shanechuck of Clearfield and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia (Kline) Pawlukovich on December 28, 1982, a son David B. Pawlukovich, and a brother and sister, Joseph Pawlukovich and Mary Vesolowski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday at 10 AM with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. officiating. Internment will follow in the Mt Zion Cemetery, Olanta.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday from 4 – 8 PM and on Wednesday from 9-9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 3:45 PM.
