Allan E. Siegel, 73, of Clearfield died on Monday, June 20, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on November 9, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Philip and Ray (Fleisher) Siegel.
Mr. Siegel owned and operated Siegel Engraving since 1982. Prior to that, he was employed as a material manager for Target Sportswear, Clearfield for 9 years.
Mr. Siegel was a member of Brit Shalom Temple, State College and was a member of the former Beth Shalom Temple, Clearfield where he served as president for over 15 years.
He was very active in athletics, serving as president of the Anti Drug Athletes United since 1999; the national chairman of the Amateur Athletic Union from 1994 to 1998; president of American Drug Free Powerlifting Association from 1991 to 1994; referee for the International Powerlifting Federation since 1985. Since he began power lifting, Al was a competitive powerlifter, winning 24 national championships and 5 world championships.
Mr. Siegel was a former president of the Clearfield Recreation Board in the 1970's and also served on the board of the Chamber of Commerce, Clearfield and the Good Samaritans.
He was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Clearfield Lodge No. 540, Fraternal Order of Police, Clearfield and the Loyal Order of Moose, Curwensville Lodge No. 268.
He was a boy scout training chairman and leader for 25 years and owned the White-Tailed Bucks, a semi-professional football team based in Clearfield in the 1970's.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and the family dog. ‘Frankie’.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda R. (Rosen) Siegel, whom he wed November 25, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY
two sons, Hal Siegel and his companion Barbara Kelly of Del Valle, TX, Jay S. Siegel and his companion Emily Horton of Clearfield,
three grandchildren, Tyler and Zachary Horton, Eve Rose Siegel.
a brother, Stanley Siegel and wife Rosalie of Washington Township, NJ,
a sister-in-law, Irene Siegel of Marlboro, NJ,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother William R. Siegel and an infant brother.
A memorial service will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rabbi David Ostrich officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8:00 PM and on Friday from 10-11:00 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Foundation for Health- Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield or to the charity of one’s choice.
