Allen Gearhart

Allen R. Gearhart, 88, of Clearfield, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at his stepdaughter's home in Reading.

He was born on May 17, 1936 in Clearfield, a son of the late Ray E. and Violet R. (Selfridge) Gearhart.

Allen graduated from Clearfield Area High School in 1955. He served with the U.S. Air Force as a young man, and he retired as a yardsman at Soult Wholesale. Allen loved fishing with his Lovey, his friends, and his family. He happily entertained his grandsons to no end, and he enjoyed taking thorough care of his lawn and yard. He loved his train sets, crime shows, and was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying ice fishing and boating among other outdoor activities that he and his Lovey did together. He will be remembered by his loved ones for his unending kindness, hilarious quick wit, and boundless love and selflessness.

Allen is survived by his wife and Lovey, Marlene H. (Haney) Gearhart, whom he wed on August 22, 1974 in Clearfield. He is also survived by a daughter, Melanie Sloup of Lewistown; a stepdaughter, Angela Accordino-Rutt and husband Dale Rutt of Reading; two grandchildren, Dylan Rutt of Reading, and Aaron Rutt of Los Angeles; and two sisters, Donna LaRock of Curwensville, and Marlene Evans of Curwensville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Violet.

In honor of Allen's wishes, there will be no services held.
