Andrew Janay Martell, 62 of Curwensville died on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at the home of his daughter Kitty Irvin of Howard.
He was born on March 25, 1943 in Clearfield, a son of the late Fred B. and Iva (Maines) Martell, Sr.
Mr. Martell retired in 1999 after 32 years of service with Max Silver and Sons Scrap Iron Metal, Erie.
A veteran of the US Army, he served three tours during the Vietnam Era having received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and two Overseas Service Bars.
He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
He is survived by a daughter, Kitty Irvin and husband Todd of Howard; four grandsons, Todd, Jr., Tyler, Justin and Trevor; a brother and two sisters, Fred B. Martell, Jr. of Curwensville, Shirley Cutler and husband Samuel of Allport and Geraldine Herman and husband Ted of Hyde; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Spade) Martell on December 15, 2001 and whom he married in 2000 in Erie, a son, Andrew Martell, Jr. and three sisters, Mary Jane Fohner, Lottie Sypin and Florence Stiner.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Randy L. Neville officiating. Interment will follow in the Gillingham Cemetery, Frenchville.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American. Legion Post #6 and Clearfield VFW Post #1785 honor guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9 -10:00 AM.
