Anna Benedek, 98, of Clearfield died on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield.
She was born on December 15, 1925 in Mahaffey, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Martella (Williams) Witherow.
Mrs. Benedek was the bookkeeper of the family business, Benedek Body Shop, for twenty years.
She was a member for over 50 years of the Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, where she served as a deacon, Sunday School Treasurer and a member of the Women's Circle. She was a member of the former Clearfield Chapter #379 Order of the Eastern Star, and a past Mother's Advisor for the Rainbows for Girls.
She is survived by her two children, Joseph Benedek III and wife Linda of Clearfield, and Lynn McKenzie and husband Scott of Clearfield; four grandchildren, Janice Aleksivich and husband Bob, Tracy Shaw and husband Eric, Joseph Benedek IV and wife Kelley, and Matthew Benedek; five great grandchildren, McKenna, Haley, Luke, Lydia, and Blaise; one great great grandson, Kohen; and one sister, Beverly McGarvey of Greenville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Benedek Jr., whom she wed October 29, 1947 in Winchester, VA; two brothers, John Calvin 'Bud' Witherow and Robert L. Witherow; and two sisters, Lela McGarvey and Barbara Hutton.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Presbyterian Church, 119 N. 2nd Street, Clearfield, PA 16830; or to the Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.
