Anna Miller

Anna Monica 'Mona' Peiffer Miller, 88, of Karthaus peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at DuBois Regional Medical Center – West.

She was born on June 9, 1920 at the Old Schultz Homestead, Dutch Hollow, Karthaus, Mona was the first daughter of James A. and Cannie (Luzier) Schultz.

On October 25, 1941 at Frenchville, Mona married Clair M. Peiffer, who preceded her in death on November 27, 1953. Clair and Mona owned and operated a general store in Pottersdale until his death in 1953. She later married John B. 'Jack' Miller, who preceded her in death on November 17, 1979.

Mona was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for her family, embroidering, feeding the squirrels and cardinals and visits with her family. She attended Oak Hill Grade School and graduated from Cooper Township High School, Class of 1938.

She is the last member of her immediate family.

She is survived by her two sons, James E. 'Ed' Peiffer and his wife Connie of Mill Hall and Joseph C. Peiffer and his wife Donna of Bellefonte; three daughters, Barbara A. Ardary and her husband Sam of Lumber City, Kathleen J. Guy of Woodland, and Susanna Miller of Philipsburg.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, Betsy Bowman, Laura Adams, Ginger McNally, Matthew Ardary, Nicole Kephart and Deann Guy; and seven great grandchildren, Zachary Peiffer, Lance and Claire Bowman, Brady and Luke Adams, Janelle Ardary and Garrett Kephart.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Daniel Peiffer, a sister, Marjorie Wooster Held, a brother, Joseph 'Bud' Luzier and her son-in-law, Nick Guy.

At Mona's request, there will be no public visitation.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield with Pastor Scott Schultz officiating. Internment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Karthaus.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 541 Graham Station Road, Philipsburg, PA 16866, or Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, 801 Roeder Road Suite 750, Silver Spring, MD 20910 or American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second Street, Clearfield, PA 16830, or St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a local library of your choice.
