Anthony Sorbera

Anthony F. Sorbera, 66

of Clearfield died on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at Clearfield Hospital.

He was born on February 4, 1936 in Clearfield, PA, a son of Mary (Pratt) Sorbera of Clearfield and the late Ignazio Sorbera.

Mr. Sorbera retired from Navasky's Clothing in Philipsburg and prior to that had been employed with the former McGregor Clothing Co.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and a Eucharistic minister. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Clearfield Council # 409 and a member of the Clearfield Sons of Italy Lodge.
Mr. Sorbera coached little league baseball for many years and was a P.I.A.A. official for football, basketball and baseball.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two children,

four grandchildren,
Melissa, Amy, Joshua and Jakob

six sisters and two brothers,
Carmella Socie and husband Fred Clearfield
Rose Seaber and husband George Toms River, NJ
Palma Sansone and husband Sam Linden, NJ
Josephine Cordy Girard, OH
Margaret Pezza and husband Pat Wellingboro, NJ
Philip Sorbera and wife Charlotte Linden, NJ
Evelyn McCartney and husband Paul State College
Raymond Sorbera and wife Linda Clearfield

and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Ann (Zoltoski) Sorbera on March 19, 2000 and whom he married July 23, 1966 in St. Francis Church, Clearfield.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Monday at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Dennis C. Hadberg as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from
2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Monday from 9-9:30 AM

The Sons of Italy Lodge will conduct a memorial service on Sunday at 7:00 PM and a Christian Vigil Service will be recited Sunday evening, both at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield, the American Heart Association, PO Box 92, Clearfield or to the American Diabetes Association, 116 S. Allegheny St., Bellefonte.
