Anthony Spagnolo

Anthony J. 'Spag' Spagnolo, 86 of Clearfield died on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at DuBois Regional Medical Center - West.

He was born on December 4, 1921 in Clearfield, a son of the late Angelo and Santa (Carleo) Spagnolo.

Mr. Spagnolo was employed as a mechanic at Harbison Walker Refractories, Clearfield for 43 years retiring in 1983.
He was a member and usher of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Civilian Conservation Corps, Knights of Columbus Clearfield Council #409, Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6, Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785 and the Sons of Italy Lodge, Clearfield. In addition, he assisted with bingo at St. Francis Church for 40 years.
He served in the U S Air Force during World War II in the 397th Bomb Group B26 Marauder.

He is survived by his wife, Edith L. (Tagliaferri) Spagnolo, whom he wed August 16, 1947 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Curwensville,

four grandchildren,
Stacy Ricciotti and husband Darin, Scott Seprish, Michael and Daniel Spagnolo

a great granddaughter,

a brother and two sisters,

Virginia Wilson of Palm Springs, FL
Helen Rowles of Clearfield

and numerous nieces and nephews

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother John Spagnolo and three sisters Ann Howe, Josephine Shaw and Frances Hitchcock.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday at
10:00 A.M. with Rev. Joseph C. Campbell as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and the Clearfield Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #1785 honor guard.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday from 4-8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9-9:30 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield PA 16830.
