Anthony F. Vezza, 82 of Clearfield died on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
He was born on August 6, 1925 in Clearfield, a son of the late Alexander and Frances (Euvino) Vezza.
Mr. Vezza retired in 1983 from the former Harbison Walker Refractory after 37 1/2 years of service.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield and a member of the Clearfield Sons of Italy Lodge and the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6.
He served in the US Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine J. (Lamendola) Vezza, whom he wed October 16, 1948 in Clearfield, two daughters; Frances George of Wooster, OH and Gloria Brown and husband Ted of State College, four grandchildren; Christopher George, Adam Brown, Dustyn Brown, and Katie George, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Frank and LeRoy Vezza and two sisters, Rose Berrow and Mary Marino.
A Memorial Mass will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Monday at 10:00 AM with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and the Clearfield VFW Post #1785.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Saint Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield PA 16830.
