Arleatha Hurd, 86, of Clearfield passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at her home.
She was born on July 25, 1937 in Mobile, AL, a daughter of Doris (Hurd) Barnett.
Arleatha was very well known in the Black Community as a hairdresser. She would style hair at her home and also travel to the homes of others to do so.
She was a member of Clearfield Hobby Garden Club. She loved gardening and being outdoors. Arleatha was a great woman that loved her family dearly.
She was Baptist by faith.
She is survived by her cousins, William Hurd of Clearfield, Linda Lance of Clearfield, Michael Lance of Clearfield, Darlene Lance of Pittsburgh, and Sherry Upsher of Pittsburgh.She is also survived by Mary Hurd of Clearfield and various other relatives.
Arleatha was preceded in death by her mother, Doris (Hurd) Barnett; grandparents, Rev. Felix Hurd and Josephine Hurd; and a cousin, Dorothy Hurd.
There will be no public visitation. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield is in charge of the arrangements.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Hobby Garden Club.
