Avanell Bloom, of Clearfield, died on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.
She was born on May 13, 1929 in Curwensville, a daughter of the late George N. and Alice (Wise) Wink.
Mrs. Bloom was employed as a waitress at the Clearfield Diner for 14 years. She was well known for her beautiful flowers and groomed lawn. Mrs. Bloom enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and also had a love of birds. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.
She was a member of West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield where she and her husband, Ed, served as greeters for many years.
She is survived by her five children, Bonnie Geppert of Clearfield, Rod Boalich of Clearfield, Brad Boalich of Clearfield, Pam Carns of Clearfield, and Krista Frame and husband Gil of Coudersport; nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie Bloom of Glen Richey, Shirley Hamer and husband Ashley of York, and Norma Jean Wink of Curwensville; five step children, Tracey Davis of Clearfield, Brad Bloom and wife Ellen of Orange Park, FL, Terri Kurtz and companion Randy Wilsoncroft of West Decatur, Andrea Hockenberry of Curwensville, and John Bloom and wife LeAnne of Macon, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Bloom on March 14, 2017. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Boalich; two grandsons, Bradley Boalich, Jr. and Andy Frame; a sister, Anna Mae Bietz; and a son-in-law, Bobby Carns III.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 PM and Saturday from 10-11 AM.
