Barbara L. Bamat , 88, of Karthaus died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
She was born on January 30, 1925 in Glen Richey, a daughter of the late James and Hazel (Dixon) Harper.
Mrs. Bamat was a homemaker who took great pride raising her family. She also was a lead volunteer for the Karthaus Food Bank and served as judge of elections in Karthaus for a number of years. Mrs. Bamat was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Karthaus where she was the financial secretary and served on church council.
She is survived by four children, Marilyn J. Fanning and husband James of Karthaus, Craig F. Bamat and wife Mary Beth of Karthaus, William Bradley Bamat and wife Kathy of Bellefonte and R. Scott Bamat and wife Michelle of Karthaus; nine grandchildren, Nicole Petriskey and husband Patrick, Jonathan, Stefan and Laura Bamat, William J. Bamat and wife Sarah, Brett, Timothy, Chase and Chad Bamat; five great grandchildren; a sister, Alberta M. Hernandez of Amherst, NY; a brother, James D. Harper and wife Beatrice of Kenmore, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William N. Bamat on November 11, 2001 and whom she wed September 4, 1950 in Clearfield. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William L. and Gerald Terrance 'Terry' Harper.
Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield on Monday at 11 AM with Rev. Matthew Finney and Rev. Robert J. Way officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from 1-4 PM and at the church on Monday from 10-11 AM.
