Barbara D. Short, 64 of Clearfield died on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at her residence.
She was born on August 11, 1945 in Langley Field, VA, a daughter of the late David and Edwina (Chinnock) Swank.
Mrs. Short retired in 1999 from the Clearfield School District where she taught in the primary grades for 31 years.
She was a member of The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the Pennsylvania Association for School Retirees. She also belonged to the Clearfield YMCA and volunteered for the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by a son,
Gage Short and wife Leigh of Bristow, VA
three grandchildren,
Ryder, Carly and Juel Short
three brothers and two sisters,
Tom Swank of Clearfield
Trudy Hipps and husband Tim of NV
David Swank and wife Dorothy of DE
Gregory Swank and wife Phyllis of Bigler
Brenda Haskins of Clearfield
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield on Friday at 11 AM with Rev. J. Robert Mellgard officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Thursday from 5-8 PM and at church on Friday from 10-11 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Presbyterian Church, 119 N. Second Street, Clearfield.
