Barbara E. Strickland, 76, of 412 Eastview Drive, Curwensville died on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at her residence.

She was born on July 26, 1929 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Arthur and Thelma Althea (Carr) Swisher.

Mrs. Strickland was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church and the Clearfield Curwensville Country Club.

She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Strickland, whom she married September 13, 1950 in Curwensville, three sons, Robert A. Strickland and his wife Carol of Delmont, David Strickland and his wife Sue of Curwensville, Jim Strickland and his wife Brenda of Curwensville, grandchildren, David Strickland and wife Jennifer of Grampian, Katie Strickland of Delmont, Megan Teska and her husband Chris of Delmont, Emily Strickland of Curwensville, Noah Strickland of Curwensville, four great grandchildren, a brother and two sisters, William Swisher and his wife Judy of Clearfield, Peg Wighaman of Clearfield, Betty Freeburg and husband Charles of Niagara Falls, NY.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson and her sister Joyce Bowser.

A memorial service will be held at the Curwensville United Methodist Church on Saturday at 10:00 AM with Rev. Kevin Locker officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 9:30-10:00 AM

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Curwensville United Methodist Church, 602 State Street, Curwensville or to the American Cancer Society, 119 East Market Street, Clearfield.

The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville is in charge of the arrangements.
