Betsy J. Peters, 94, formerly of Woodland died on Monday, December 25, 2023 at the Christ the King Manor, DuBois.
She was born on December 18, 1929 in Woodland, a daughter of the late A. Robert and Nell E. (Edmunds) Woolridge.
Mrs. Peters was a 1947 graduate of Clearfield High School, attended Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing, and graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1972.
Mrs. Peters was employed by Clearfield Area School District and retired in 1993, after 31 years of teaching. She was a lifetime member of the Woodland Main Street United Methodist Church/Lake Street United Methodist Church, the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, the Clearfield County Pennsylvania Retired Public School Employee Association, IUP Alumni Association, and the Clearfield County Historical Society.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda C. Stone and husband Dennis of Lanse, Susan M. Willis and husband Timothy of Lanse, Nancy L. Guiher and husband Rick of Grampian; six grandchildren, Ryan G. Watson, Amanda L. Watson, Brandi L. (Ryan) Horner, Megan L. (William) Snyder, Matthew T. (Jessica) Willis, and Danielle M. (David J.) Cassler; and three great grandchildren Madison Lee Snyder, Waylon Daniel Snyder, and Nolan David Cassler.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyell C. Peters on June 11, 2009 and whom she wed on May 29, 1951 in Winchester, Virginia. She was also preceded in death by an infant son and her sister, Gloria Karchner.
In honoring Mrs. Peters wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 South Front Street, Clearfield, PA, 16830; or the Clearfield County Public Library, 601 Beech Street, Curwensville, PA 16833 or the charity of one's choice.
