Betty Butler

Betty McCall Butler, of Stronach, was called to her heavenly home on September 11, 2024. Born March 18, 1931 in Hyde City, PA, she was the daughter of Dorothy Vokes McCall and Andrew “Bud” McCall. The family moved to Stronach in 1936, where she loved living her whole life.

She attended Clearfield High School, graduating “Secretarial” in 1948. Upon graduation, she was secretary to Curry and Wrigglesworth Building Contractors. She then attended and graduated from Penn-Mar-Beauty School and owned and operated Betty’s Beauty Salon in Stronach for 27 years.

Betty was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Grampian and also attended Curry Run United Methodist Church of the Grampian United Methodist Charge. She was a member of the Grampian Woman’s Club, past President of the Clearfield Hairdressers Assn., Cub Scout Den Mother and was chairman for many fundraising events throughout the years for Grampian and Curwensville.

On October 15, 1948, she married her sweetheart, Roy C. Butler, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Grampian. They welcomed two sons to their marriage, Tom and Bobby. She loved being a mother. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998 with their original attendants that stood with them for their wedding.
Betty is survived by son, Dr. Thomas Butler and wife, Lisa, of Bellefonte; grandchildren, Rhett Butler and wife, Katherine of Virginia (great-grandchildren William, George and Annie), Gail Butler Varaly and husband, Dr. Jonas Varaly of South Carolina, Erin Butler of Hershey, Leigh Butler Tomaev and husband, Marat of Hershey (great-grandson Teague), Tania Butler of Reynoldsville (great-grandsons Kayge and Kain). She is also survived by three sisters, Gail McCall Bonsall, Judy McCall Freeman and husband, William, Sonya McCall Barr, and brother George “Buddy” McCall and wife, Linda. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and step-mother Grace Shaffer McCall, she is preceded in death by husband, Roy Butler; son, Bobby Butler; daughter-in-law Catherine Michaels Butler; sisters Helen McCall Butler, Patty McCall Neeper; brothers-in-law James Bonsall, Ronald Butler Sr. and Tom Barr; nephews Ronald Butler Jr. and Kevin Bonsall.

Due to Betty’s wishes there will be no viewing or public visitation. A memorial service will be held at Grampian Church of Faith, formerly St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Rick Butler, on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 11am, with a luncheon to follow. Internment will be held at Friends Cemetery, Grampian.
