Betty Grace Sanker, 85, of Oberlin, OH died on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Center Ridge Health Care Center in North Ridgeville, OH.
She was born on August 16, 1922 in Morrisdale, PA a daughter of the late Clark and Carrie (Turner) Hummel.
Mrs. Sanker retired in April of 1999 from the Elyria Memorial Hospital in Elyria, OH after 21 years of service. She had also worked for the Presbyterian Home in Philipsburg.
She attended the Church of the Open Door in Elyria and formerly attended the Centre Hill Methodist Church in Morrisdale.
She is survived by three children, Gorman Clark Sanker and wife Noreen of Sheffield Lake, OH, Barbara June Sanker Stiner and husband Ronald of Oberlin, OH and Rodger Merle Sanker and wife Sharon of Strongsville, OH; nine grandchildren, Timothy M. Stiner and wife Barbara Ann of Litchfield, OH, Cynthia M. Oehlke and husband Leonard of Elyria, OH, Dennis R. Stiner and wife Katherine of LaGrange, OH, Christine L. Miller and husband Dale Miller of Elyria, OH, Kenneth J. Stiner and wife Kelly of LaGrange, OH, Kevin Sanker and wife Jill of Bethel Park, PA, Kimberly Snow and husband Christopher of Elyria, OH, Carrie Hulec and husband Scott of Elyria, OH and Jennifer Hawley of North Olmstead, OH; one step-granddaughter, Joan Singleton of Tampa, FL; 23 great grandchildren; a brother, Doyle Hummel of Winburne, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Walton Sanker in July of 1947 and whom she married in 1940. She was also preceded in death by a grandson Bryan E. Sanker, brothers, Chester, Foster, Blair and Merlin Hummel and sisters, Ruth Hummel Williams and Ethel Hummel Bock.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in the Centre Hill Cemetery, Morrisdale.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 PM and on Wednesday from 10-11:00 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of one's choice.
