Blaine G. Fletcher, 89, of Clearfield died on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on December 9, 1918 in Clearfield, a son of the late George C. and Edith (Conaway) Fletcher.
Mr. Fletcher retired from Harbison-Walker Refractories after 37 years of service.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield. He was also a member of the Clearfield Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 812, the Leigey Renaud Post 8386 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Frenchville, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6, the Old Town Sportsman's Club and the Mosquito Creek Sportsman's Club. In addition, he was a member of the Steel Workers Union.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during WWII.
He is survived by three daughters, Denise Flegal of Clearfield, Donna Fox and husband James of Clearfield and Dianna Robbins and husband Donald of Rockton; four grandchildren, Annie Hinton and husband Matthew, Joel Fox, Samantha and Jessica Robbins; and one great grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. (Coudriet) Fletcher on May 14, 1997 and whom he married on January 27, 1947, a great grandson, a sister Eleatha Selfridge and brothers Thomas, James and Jack Fletcher.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Friday at 10:00 AM with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Military honors will be accorded at the church by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1785 Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Thursday from 6-9:00 PM and on Friday from 9-9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil service will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday at 8:45 PM.
