Blair H. English, 83, of Woodland died on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Forbes Regional Medical Center, Monroeville.
He was born on April 24, 1927 in Bigler, a son of the late John K. and Evelyn (Graham) English.
Mr. English was employed in the strip mines and retired after thirty six years of service.
He was a member of the Dale United Methodist Church, Woodland. He served in the US Air Force during World War II.
He is survived by three children, Harold English and wife Gloria of Woodland, Terry English of Buckhannon, WV and Sandra Hull and husband Donald of Woodland; a daughter-in-law, Mary English of Philipsburg; nine grandchildren, Kim Price, Lisa Corbin, Brian English, Mark English, Vickey Maney, Richard English, Shawna English, Joshua English and Jennifer Merritts; nine great grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Obe C. English of Morrisdale RD, Hamer English of Woodland, Sam English of Shawville, Elizabeth Kephart of Lanse and Vera Snyder of Curwensville and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Twila L. (Shirey) English on January 28, 2009 and whom he married May 1, 1948 in Woodland, a son Timothy English, a daughter-in-law Kathryn English, a grandson Michael English and three brothers Raymond, Walter and Gordon English.
Funeral services will be held at the Dale United Methodist Church, Woodland on Saturday at 2 PM with Rev. Charles Frank officiating. Interment will follow in the Dale Cemetery, RD, Woodland.
Military honors will be accorded at the church by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts honor guard.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8
PM and at the church on Saturday from 1-2 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Dale Cemetery Fund c/o Mary English, 263 Green Road, Woodland, PA 16881.
