Blair E. McCracken, 86, of Woodland died on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
He was born on October 26, 1921 in Lumber City, a son of the late David and Icie (Meckley) McCracken.
Mr. McCracken retired from Lezzer Lumber Co. and prior to that had been employed by Brown Brothers Bulk Transport.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Clearfield Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #540, the Curwensville Loyal Order of Moose, the Mosquito Creek Sportsman's Club, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6 and the Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Robert Ferguson Post #842. He also belonged to the B and I bowling league.
He was a veteran of WW II having served with the US Army.
He is survived by three sons, Randy McCracken and wife Ann of Clearfield and Tim McCracken and wife Marsha of Curwensville and Mark McCracken and wife Kelly of Clearfield; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a sister and brother, Hazel Proud of Clearfield and Lynn McCracken and wife Ann of Curry Run; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. (Jury) McCracken on January 28, 2007 and whom he married May 18, 1946 in St. Francis Church, Clearfield.
He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, a sister Elizabeth Poole, an infant sister and a brother Oliver McCracken.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Wednesday from 9-9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 3:45 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield PA 16830.
