Blanche M. Hegarty, 96, of Millville, NJ and formerly of Woodland, died on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at South Jersey Hospital Regional Medical Center, Vineland, NJ.
She was born on August 28, 1913 in Houtzdale, a daughter of the late Joseph and Gerda (Malm) Custard.
Mrs. Hegarty was employed as a bookkeeper with various supermarkets before retiring from the Sun Val Market in Sun Valley, CA after 12 years of service.
She was Methodist by faith.
She was a member of the Blair County Genealogy Society, the Pairs and Spares Club, Clearfield, and the Senior Citizen Group, Woodland. Also, she was a member and past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club when living in California.
She is survived by a daughter, Rose Marie Thompson of Millville, NJ; three grandchildren, Hallie Fulton and her husband, Joseph, of Lorena, TX, Erin Thompson of Millville, NJ, and Ian Thompson and his wife, Lori, of Huntingdon; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hegarty on December 29, 1997 and whom she married June 17, 1933 in Huntingdon, a sister Nora Custard-Steber and a brother Paul Custard.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 1 PM with Rev. Hiram B. Westover officiating. Interment will follow in the Beulah Cemetery, Ramey.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 AM until the time of services.
