Burton F. Bergey, 74, of Clearfield died on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at his residence.
He was born on April 8, 1932 in Clearfield, a son of the late Hilary and Grace (Plubell) Bergey.
Mr. Bergey lived in the Niagara Falls, NY for 40 years, retiring in 1992 from Carborundum Co., Fibers Division, as shift foreman, after eighteen years of service. Prior to that he had been employed by Kimberly Clark for twenty years.
He and his family returned to Clearfield in 1992.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6, the Mosquito Creek Sportsman's Club and the National Rifle Association.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Pauline (Dunkle) Bergey, whom he wed March 6, 1954 in Niagara Falls, NY; a daughter, Anne Jean Wagoner of Houtzdale; three grandchildren, John Francis Wagoner and wife Rachel, Autumn Jean Wagoner and companion Phillip Peters, Eric Paul Wagoner and companion Jessica Lanager; two great grandchildren, Shaylee Wagoner and Phillip J. Peters; two brothers and three sisters, Richard S. Bergey and wife Virginia of Morrisdale, Franklin H. Bergey and companion Norma Verbeck of Philipsburg, Delores Zwolski and husband Edward of Curwensville, Donna Anderson and husband James of Clearfield, and Annette Hugney of Frenchville; a sister-in-law, Rindy Bergey of Clearfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons John Edward and Matthew Allen Bergey, two brothers and a sister, Robert, James and Jean Agnes Bergey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
Military honors will be accorded at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday at 9:30 AM by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, 113 N. Third Street, Clearfield on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Wednesday from 9-9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 3:45 PM.
