On June 21, 2023, Burton Grant Coulter, 83, a longtime Clearfield resident, was called home.
He was born on August 24, 1939 in Surveyor to Mary Ellen (Frye) and Herbert Coulter.
He is survived by his daughter, Marie; two granddaughters, Brandy and Dana; a great-grandson, Tyree; great-granddaughter, Kyella; sister, Christine Cutler; brothers, Albert (wife Annie), Len (wife Jackie); Cindy and Jim; friends and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and wife of 51 1/2 years, Susan; his beloved cat, Baby; his parents; brother, Merle; and brother-in-law, Sonny.
Burt was a proud member of the US Army and Clearfield Eagles. He was an M-14 sharp shooter who told stories of driving tanks during his service. He was lovingly known as Burt, Burton, Pap, Pappy, Uncle Burt, Old Fart, Nighthawk and fittingly, Grumpy. He was a loving, giving and tolerant husband. His oldest granddaughter reveres him as her "first hero" after finding her a mile deep into the woods at age 4. He was employed by Harbison Walker Brickyard. He spent most of his career employed by the Fullington Bus company doing what he loved most, driving. He enjoyed fishing with the guys and eating the sweets his wife made him. He loved sitting on the porch, music from the 50's and playing with his favorite cat, Baby.
Services will be held at Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory 113 N. Third St. Clearfield, PA 16830 on Thursday, June 29th between 11am and 2pm. We will casually honor and celebrate his life after at his home. If you can't join us, do what Burt would want by "eating 2 slices of white bread, then you can drink all the Coors Light you want".
