C. Louise Hurd

C. Louise 'Weezie' Hurd , 80, of Clearfield died on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born on March 12, 1932 in Glen Richey, a daughter of the late Andrew and Clara (McLaughlin) Johnson.

Mrs. Hurd attended the Clearfield Area Schools, until the last two years of high school when she attended Punxsutawny High School, graduating in 1950. She was a homemaker who was very devoted to raising her family, always having homemade rolls baked for her children. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Curwensville, where she served as the chair of the hospitality committee. Mrs. Hurd was very involved with the Christian Women's Club, serving as the Regional and Area Representative. She also enjoyed quilting having taught quilting classes and belonged to a local quilt guild.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Hurd whom she wed February 7, 1951; five children Dennis Hurd and wife Susan of Clearfield, Connie Thorp and husband T. Kirk of Hepburnia, Barbara Shaffner and husband Greg of Clearfield, Ed Hurd and wife Robin of Clearfield and Janet Wriglesworth and husband Russell or Hepburnia; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a sister M. Kay Tate of FL.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren Jeffrey Hurd and LeeAnne Wriglesworth; and two brothers Jack and Jim Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Curwensville, on Sunday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Daniel M. Osterhout officiating. Interment will be in the LaJose Cemetery, Newburg.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Saturday from 2-4:00 and 6-8 PM and at church on Sunday from 1-2 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 312, Curwensville, PA 16833.
