Carl Dayton Nixon, 73, of Grampian died on Monday, April 12, 2010 at his residence.
He was born on October 23, 1936 in Wilson, NY, a son of the late Melville and Clarise (Pettit) Nixon.
Mr. Nixon owned Winter Park Sales, Grampian since 1960. Prior to that, he worked in the automotive paint and body industry.
He was a member of the Schuylkill Haven American Legion Post #0038 and the Showman's Association.
He served in the US Air Force having attained the rank of Airman 1st Class.
He is survived by six children, Dayton Nixon and wife Mary of Woodland, Vernon Nixon and wife Wanita of Grampian, Carl M. Nixon of Grampian, Kelly Gatten and husband Kevin of NC, Brenda Bukowski of Savannah, GA and Bonnie Bedward of Dover, DE; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles Nixon of Grampian and John Nixon and wife Jan of Akron, NY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Louis W. Nixon.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Thursday at 11 AM with Rev. Doug Turner officiating. Interment will be in the Northridge Cemetery, Ransonville, NY.
Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW posts honor guards.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 PM and on Thursday from 10-11 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 26 South Second Street, Clearfield.
