Charles W. 'Sam' Lanich, 72
of Curwensville died on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on March 28, 1937 in Clearfield, a son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Lansberry) Lanich.
Mr. Lanich retired as a mechanic from Shugarts Lawn and Garden, Clearfield after 30 years of service. He also was employed by El Cam in Clearfield.
He was a life member of the Clearfield Second Ward Fire Company.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy A. (Shaffer) Lanich, whom he wed September 9, 1960 in Clearfield,
three sons and two daughters, Christopher 'Chris' Lanich and wife Joanne of Mercer, Michael Lanich and companion Jennifer Hanes of Hyde, Daniel Lanich and wife Laurie of Irvona, Sandra Lord and husband Bryon of Olanta, Susan Swales and husband Thad of DuBois,
ten grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth, Alyssa, Danielle and Charles Lanich, Shane, Shawn and Madison Lord and Kassity and Jamison Swales,
a great-grandson,
a daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Lanich of Olanta,
three brothers and two sisters, Paul Lanich and wife Sue of Clearfield, Fred Lanich of Clearfield, Walter 'Bud' Lanich and wife Betty Jane of MD, Donna Modzel of FL, Josephine Mahlon of Rockton
and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Betty McLaughlin and Dorothy Walk.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Saturday at 1:00 PM with Gary Jewart officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and also on Saturday from 12 to 1:00 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield.
