Charles E. Welker, 88, of Clearfield died on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on December 15, 1918 in Curwensville.
Mr. Welker was previously employed at Max F. Smith Dry Cleaners and Joe's One Hour Cleaners.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during WW II.
He was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield.
Mr. Welker was an avid gardener and although he never had the first ripe tomato in the neighborhood he shared his bounty with them.
He also enjoyed bass fishing and hunting.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Walker of Clearfield and Joann Kibler and husband Kenneth of Westover; two grandchildren, Mary Catherine Finazzo and husband Michael and Nicole Patrick and husband Michael; and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty on November 1, 1982 and whom he married October 15, 1942 in Maryland and two brothers, Percy Foust and Harry Welker.
A memorial service will be held at the West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
