Charles Young

Charles E. "Chick" Young, 93, of Clearfield died on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Clearfield Hospital.

He was born on February 11, 1917 in McKeesport, a son of the late Edward and Mildred (Ginn) Young.

Mr. Young was employed at Benjamin Coal Company from 1976-1984. He also worked as an Insurance Salesman and owned a Mobile Home Business. He served as the caretaker for the Friends Cemetery, Grampian. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club, Clearfield.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve R. ‘Jean’ (Toto) Young, whom he wed July 24, 1957 in Cumberland, MD; five children, Lark McKeown and husband David ‘Mike’ of Curwensville, Janice Ford and husband Tyrone of Clearfield; Paula Marshall of Curwensville; Barry Young and wife Nancy of Westover; Emerson Young and wife Vicki of Chicago, IL; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; six sisters and two brothers, Alvaretta Godman of AL, Beatrice Pearce of NY, Mary Lou Holcomb of NC, Floyde Stokes of WV, Ruth Sherbeck of Warren, Edith Bush of Irwin, Arthur Young of Ulster and Thomas Young of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Daniel Young and a brother Roger Young.

A memorial service will be held the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday at 5 PM with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 3-5 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield or to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
