Charlotte P. Markovitch, 78, of Clearfield passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 29, 2018.
She was born on August 11, 1940 in Charleroi, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Huri) Kucynda.
Mrs. Markovitch worked in the merchandising industry for many years. She was also a member of the Punxsutawney Polka Club where she served as secretary and treasurer. She loved traveling and going on cruises to the Caribbean with her husband. She also enjoyed tending to her many flowers and cutting grass on her riding lawnmower. She will all be remembered for her love of baking and sewing. Mrs. Markovitch was of the Russian Orthodox faith.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph J. Markovitch whom she wed August 8, 1959 in Charleroi; three children, Shirley Gorwick and husband Larry of Ocean City, MD, David Markovitch of Tarentum, and Mary Beth McElroy and husband Robert of Fombell; three grandchildren, Jeremy Markovitch, Jessica Savka and husband Ed, and Jeena Markovitch; and a brother, the Very Rev. Paul Kucynda of Wayne, NJ.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11 AM with Mrs. Markovitch's brother, the Very Rev. Paul Kucynda officiating. Interment will follow in the Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 PM and on Tuesday from 10-11 AM.
