Chester A. Hixon, 90
of 1431 Naulton Road Extension, Curwensville died on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at his residence.
He was born on July 25, 1914 in Clearfield, PA, a son of the late Amos and Candace (Flegal) Hixon.
Mr. Hixon was a member of the United Brick and Clay Workers and served as the representative and vice president until his retirement in 1977. He was a self employed farmer for many years and was Methodist by faith.
Mr. Hixon served in the Navy during World War II having attained the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer and had served on submarines in the South Pacific Theatre.
He is survived by three children,
Cindy L. Hixon McGovern and husband Joseph Curwensville
Clayton R. Hixon Curwensville
Robert E. Hixon and wife Stacy Boston Punxsytawney
six grandchildren,
Robert, Matthew J. and Adam C. McGovern, Daniell C., Mark and Shalene E. Hixon
two great grandchildren,
and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar, Wesley and Harold Hixon and three sisters, Isabelle Hixon, Adda Shaw and an infant sister Evelyn.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Friday
at 8:00 PM with Pastor George W. Solley officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM until the time of service.
