Chester Solley

September 28, 1935 — November 20, 2014

Chester A. 'Pete' Solley , 79, because he knew Jesus Christ as his personal savior, entered into heaven and the presence of his Lord on November 20, 2014.

He was born on September 28, 1935 in Clearfield, a son of the late Beauford and Alta (Shaffer) Solley.

He was part owner and operator of "Pete and Fred's Barbershop" in Curwensville for many years. He also worked at Piper Aircraft as a tool and die maker, the tool and die shop at Berg Electronics, Clearfield Powdered Metals, Lezzer Lumber and various construction jobs throughout the area.
Mr. Solley was a member of Cherry Corner Bible Church where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years and served on the church board.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice (Pardoe) Solley whom he wed August 18, 2001; two children, Pastor George W. Solley and wife Dena of Grampian and Mona Kaye Rothrock and husband Doug of Bigler. Also surviving are three grandsons, Philip Solley of Grampian, Nathan Rothrock of Punxsutawney and Isaac Rothrock of Bigler; a granddaughter Rebecca (Solley) McCracken and husband Stephen of Swansboro, NC; a great grandson, Benjamin McCracken; and a brother-in-law, Ken Pardoe of Clearfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha (Bensor) Solley on December 29, 1999 and whom he had wed on October 14, 1955; and a sister, Ruth (Solley) Haney.

Funeral services will be held at the Cherry Corner Bible Church, Curwensville on Monday at 11 AM with Pastors George W. Solley and John Longley presiding. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and at the church on Monday from 10-11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Cherry Corner Bible Church, 155 Nellie's Road, Grampian.
