It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearly loved Daniel L Malloy April 1,2024.
Born February 6,1960 to James and Donna Malloy of Clearfield, Dan was a beacon of joy and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Barbara (Ogden) for 36 years during which time they were blessed with two sons: Andrew Stuart and Lucas Daniel (wife Candice Morgan and 2 grandchildren Kase James and Willow Mae). In addition to his parents, wife, sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, Dan is survived by siblings Patrick (Sandy), Colleen Campman (Forest) and Terry (Sharon). Sister-in-laws Linda Ogden Simpkins (Jerry Beck) and Marla Liegey (Gerard). Several nieces and nephews; Susan Malloy (Dave Baughman), Mark Malloy, Curtis Campman, Jarrin Campman (Vickey), Trey Campman, Matthew Simpkins (Breck), Michael Liegey (Heather Swatsworth), Ryan Liegey and Marlaina Liegey Caiola (Anthony) as well as numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents Patrick and Ruth Malloy of Clearfield and William and Sara Swanson of Curwensville.
Dan was a devoted family man. He spent a lifetime together with his family in building up Jim's Sports Center of Clearfield and taking pride in watching his sons grow into respectful young men. He gleamed at their accomplishments and strong moral backbone. There are no words to describe the pride and joy he experienced the past 2 years as a grandfather. The title of "Poppy" was his favorite of all. Walking hand in hand with Kase or helping him give dog treats to the family dog, Sidney were precious moments.
Many know of Dan's love of sports. Dan had an extended family as many bonds and fond memories were made while playing fast pitch softball in the Old Town Sportsmen League. Years later it wasn't uncommon to overhear him reliving stories with fellow players. His favorite baseball player was Roberto Clemente. In spite of it all he still would say he was a Pittsburgh Pirate fan.
Dan was a member of BPOE Clearfield Elks and the Knights of Columbus.
Dan's fun loving spirit, sense of humor and kindness had a unique ability to make every moment feel special. His perseverance was palpable. Whether charging a bunt down the 3rd baseline, completing a last minute order for a client or fighting the long battle against myelofibrosis, Dan pushed through the challenges.
His deep faith was unwavering which he credited to the fostering of St. Francis Church, St. Francis School (1978 graduate) and his friends and family that shared his love of Christ.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him but his memory will forever live on in our hearts. There will be visitation at the Beardsley Funeral Home 113 North Third Street, Clearfield PA from 4-7pm Friday April 5 and from 9-9:30 AM Saturday April 6. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Church of Clearfield at 10am Saturday with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that donation be made to St Francis School in memory of Dan.
