David L Dunlap, 70, of Milesburg, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024. Born New Years Eve, December 31, 1953 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Dorothy (Schucker) Kabel.
He graduated from Clearfield High School in 1971. David owned and operated Dunlap Refrigeration from 1987 - 2020. He was also head of the Physical Plant for Hotel State College. You surely squeezed past one of his vehicles parked in a downtown alley. He loved Spiderman, Sci-Fi movies, the Three Stooges, playing guitar, beans and weenies, peanut M&Ms and abnormally large bowls of ice cream. He had kind blue eyes, a shy smile, and a propensity to yell out non-sequiturs while watching Penn State Football. He was endlessly handy and would always help a friend in need. He was the best husband, Dad, and Pap his family could have known.
David is survived by his wife, Shirley (Webster) Dunlap, whom he wed December 11, 1976: two children, Emily (Dunlap) Wilkins and Jason Dunlap; three grandchildren, Evan, Ida, and Edie Wilkins: two sisters, Diana Diana and Darlene Haight; a brother Duane Dunlap, and his best friend Joe Schrantz.
He is loved.
He is preceded in death by his mother and two siblings, Donald Dunlap and Debra Haight.
"You're cured now, Poppa. You're all better. Oh, and that scar on your arm, that's the mark of the hunter."
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made in David's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield oversees the arrangements.
