Dean J. Ryen, 68, of Shiloh passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2021 at his home.
Born May 16, 1953 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late John Dean “Jack” Ryen and Loretta (German) Ryen.
On Nov. 27, 1971, he married his wife of nearly 50 years, Bessie Elaine (Shirey) Ryen of Shiloh. She survives at home.
Dean was a 1971 graduate of the West Branch Area High School, where he was a standout on the wrestling team.
He had worked for many years and retired from Snow Shoe Refractories and just recently returned to work part-time.
He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, gardening, watching the Pittsburgh Penguins, caring for animals, including his cats and chickens, drawing humorous caricatures and most of all, telling stories around a campfire.
Dean is survived by his three children, Angie (Josh) Kroell of Bellefonte, Timothy (Amber) Ryen of Shiloh and Chad (Shelly) Ryen of Shiloh; six grandchildren, Max and Ty Kroell of Bellefonte, Holden and Brody Ryen of Shiloh and Riley and Zander Ryen, of Shiloh; four sisters, Sheila (Geoff) Sidelinger of Weedville, Shelley (Greg) Thompson of Pine Glenn, Stacey (Jim) Dobo of West Decatur and Victoria (Rob) Gatto of Elwood City; a brother, Vincent (Wanda) Ryen of Allport; an aunt, Janet (Ryen)Turner of Philipsburg as well as numerous cousins and very close family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Irvin T. Sr. and Alma L. (Lidgett) Ryen, whom raised him from an infant; an aunt, Patricia L. (Ryen) Coble; and uncles, Bill Ryen, Irvin T. Ryen Jr. and Milton German.
Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Wednesday at 7 PM with Rev. Brenda Libreatori officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
