Delbert W. 'Bill' Pennington died on January 31, 2025 at the Advent Health Hospital in The Villages, FL.

Born on May 30, 1946, he was the son of the late Delbert E. and Mary I. Pennington of La Jose. On June 24, 1966 he married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Bailey, of Burnside, PA. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2016.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Kenneth W. (Robin) Pennington, Michael L. (Lori) Pennington, and Brenda M. (Gilbert) Stevenson, all of Clearfield. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Desiree (Dalton) Granville, Danelle (Anthony) Starr, Jacob (Christin) Pennington, Samuel (McKenzie) Pennington, Kyle (Jilian) Stevenson, and Nicole (Lewis) Booth, all of Clearfield, and James W. Pennington and Victoria Pennington, both of West Wyoming, PA; and nine great-grandchildren, Jaxen Pennington, Joslen Pennington, Clair Pennington, Chloe Pennington, Rhett Granville, Remi Granville, Ruby L. Starr, Aidan Booth, and Abby Booth, all of Clearfield. He is also survived by his brother, Charles E. (Wanda) Pennington of La Jose, and many nieces and nephews.

In the 1960's and 70's Bill raced stock cars on the local dirt tracks.

He worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 36 years where he would retire in 2001 as the District 2-0 Contract Management Engineer. He then went into ministry and served as Pastor of the Forest Emmanuel United Methodist Church for one year, then the Salem and Spring Valley United Methodist Churches for 3 years. His greatest passion in life was to preach the word of God.

Bill enjoyed his Wednesday night suppers with Jeff Fink at the Dutch Pantry where they would solve all the world's problems in about an hour. He also enjoyed his Friday night s suppers with his son and best friend, Ken, where they would catch up on what happened that week. Family was very important to him and he spent as much time as he could with them.

He was a member of the Clearfield Lodge No. 314, Free and Accepted Masons for over 50 years; the Altoona Consistory and Shrine; and worked for many years with Lefty Mays of the Clearfield Shrine Club on the annual paper drive to receive donations for the Shriner's Children's Hospitals. Bill was also a member of the Third Ward Hose Company of Clearfield where he served as President, Truck Forman, and Assistant Captain; and a member of the Clearfield Fire Police Patrol where he served as Captain.

Mr. Pennington served with the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 6 in Clearfield for over 50 years.

A funeral service will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11 AM with Pastor Anthony Caiola officiating.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 4-7 PM, and again on Friday from 10-11 AM.

Interment will be in the Historic Crown Crest Cemetery.

A Mason Service will be held on at the funeral home on Thursday at 6 PM and military honors will be accorded at the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM.
