Dominic Joseph "Coke" Spingola, 78
of 912 Cumberland Street, Clearfield died on Friday, January 28, 2005 at DuBois Regional Medical Center, West.
He was born on January 30, 1926 in Clearfield, a son of the late John W. and Lena C. (Ballistere) Spingola.
Mr. Spingola retired after 35 years of service from the former Harbison Walker Refractories where he was a lift truck operator and a part time shipping foreman. He also served as the union president and chief job steward. In addition, he owned Coke's Place and tended bar at many local taverns.
He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6, the Clearfield Sons of Italy Lodge and United Commercial Travelers, Philipsburg Council #621.
He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a pitcher in the Navy Atlantic Fleet Soft Ball League. He also played for the Clearfield Indians, American Legion, Clearfield Bisons, Robinson Clay, Y.M.C.A. League and Curwensville J.C. League. In addition he managed the Hillsdale girls softball team and retired from playing ball at age 57. He also bowled for the state championship in Lancaster in 1959.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth H. (Demma) Spingola on March 30, 2001 and whom he married October 12, 1945 at St. Patricks Cathedral in Harrisburg, PA, and two brothers Robert and Frank Spingola.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion
Post 6 Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday from
2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Tuesday from 9 9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 3.45 pm.
