Donald R. McGarvey, 68
of West Decatur died on Monday, June 6, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on January 22, 1943 in Clearfield, a son of the late Clair and Thelma Louise (Kester) McGarvey.
Mr. McGarvey retired in 2000 after 35 years at PennDOT. He then worked with Greenhorne and O'Mara Engineering Consultants of Harrisburg.
Mr. McGarvey was a P.I. A.A. basketball and baseball referee. He was Methodist by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Lumadue) McGarvey, whom he wed March 6, 1967 in Rockville, MD,
a daughter, Dawn Luzier of West Decatur, two step daughters, Rhonda Thorpe and husband Michael of Clearfield and Victoria Rich of Daytona Beach, FL,
eight grandchildren, Ashley Bell, Jamie Lingle, Ian Rich, Ralph Lingle, Meghan Lesparance, Jennifer Gatermann, Emily Luzier and Caedan Sauders,
a great granddaughter, Karter Bell,
and an uncle, Glibert Kester of Marshalltown, IA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas S. Mullen and Michael Daniel Mullen.
A memorial service will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 10 AM with Pastor Howard R. Lindsey officiating.
