Donald C. Sayers, 90, of Frenchville died on Friday, November 19, 2010 at his residence.
He was born on July 27, 1920 in Frenchville a son of the late Joseph and Emma (Scherzer) Sayers.
Mr. Sayers retired in 1982 from Piper Aircraft Co., Quehanna after 15 years of service. Prior to that he was employed for 23 years with the former Hoffman Coal Company.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville.
Mr. Sayers was a charter member of the Frenchville Leigey Renaud Post #8386 Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6.
A veteran of the US Coast Guard, he served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly M. (Shaw) Sayers, whom he wed October 5, 1940 in Frenchville; three children, Charles R. Sayers and wife Fran of Harrisburg, Thomas L. Sayers and wife Georganna of Philipsburg and Susan Kline and husband Patrick of Vandergrift; five grandchildren, David, Denise, Tracy and Carly Sayers and Ariel Kline; two great grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers, Mary Potter of Karthaus, Theresa Billotte of Frenchville, Loretta Jean Sayers of Frenchville, John Adrian Sayers of Frenchville, Claude Sayers and wife Loisof Philipsburg and numbers nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers James, Frederick 'Bobby' and an infant brother and five sisters Ursula and Mildred Sayers, Eleanor 'Buddy' Redenbach, Helen 'Tudy' Muttersbaugh and an infant sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville on Monday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. David A. Perry, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will be in the Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
Military honors will be accorded at the church by members of the Leigey Renaud Post #8386 Honor Guard, Frenchville
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from 2–5:00 PM and at the church on Monday from 10-11:00 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made the Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield or to the Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty to Animals, 541 Graham Station Road, Philipsburg.
