Doris Jeane (Lingle) Read, 84
of Clearfield died on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
She was born on July 3, 1924 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Earl W. and Verda Cecelia (Giles) Lingle.
Mrs. Read was a school teacher in the Clearfield High School for twenty five years.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education having attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the PA Association of School Retirees, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes and the former National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Philipsburg.
She served as Relief Society President, on the Counselors for Relief Society, taught adult Sunday School and was a teacher of the development class. She also was a missionary in Kansas, Missouri and Washington, DC.
She is survived by her husband, Levis Read, Jr., whom she wed December 27, 1947.
two sons, David A. Read and wife Melody of DuBois, Gerald E. Read and wife Cathy of Alexandria, VA,
three grandchildren, Jessica, Sean, Trevor,
three great grandchildren,
and a brother, Frederick E. Lingle and his wife Barbara of Clearfield.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday at
10:00 A.M. with Bishop Jeffrey Hipps officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-5:00 PM and on Monday from
9-10:00 AM
